Jeddah sees drop in January hotel performance

Decline attributed to December’s packed events calendar causing a spike in bookings

According to newly released January 2022 data from STR, Jeddah’s hotel industry reported slightly lower performance levels in January 2022 compared to December 2021.

The provider of worldwide hotel industry data reported that Jeddah recorded an occupancy rate of 46%, while the average daily rate (ADR) reached SR570 (US$152). The revenue per available room (RevPAR) recorded in the city last month was SR263.

The data providers stated that a possible explanation for the dip in performance in January was that the city hosted the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in early December. This drove monthly performance to reach levels that were on par with numbers recorded in September 2019.

Despite the month-on-month decline, absolute occupancy and RevPAR were in line with the figures recorded in recent months.
