Dermot Birchall brings 20 years of experience across leading luxury resorts and five-star hotels
Kandima Maldives has appointed Dermot Birchall as its new General Manager.
Part of Pulse Hotels & Resorts, Kandima Maldives is a diverse lifestyle destination located in the Dhaalu Atoll. Blending authentic Maldivian spirit with world-class watersports and entertainment hubs, the resort features 10 dining venues, two pools, a vast lagoon and one of the largest kids’ clubs in the Maldives.
With more than 20 years’ experience across leading luxury resorts and five-star hotels, Birchall brings a dynamic leadership style and a strong track record in driving operational excellence, guest satisfaction and commercial success.
He has experience in leading high-performing teams, launching new guest experiences and integrating sustainability into resort operations, with expertise spanning Asia, the Middle East and Europe and leadership roles at Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Barcelo Hotel Group.
He also attended HEC Paris Business School, graduating with a Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

In his new role, Birchall is tasked with building on the Kandima island resort’s playful, smart and socially responsible ethos, with a focus on creating innovative guest experiences, enhancing service excellence and expanding Kandima’s diverse lifestyle offerings.
With a deep passion for the hospitality industry, his vision is to take the island’s unique concept of active, fun and laid-back luxury to the next level.
