Twice weekly Shymkent-Jeddah flights to operate in October
One of Central Asia’s largest airlines, Air Astana, is launching direct flights from the Kazakhstan city of Shymkent to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with a twice weekly service operating from 1 October to 28 October 2024.
After this time, one of the services will be switched to a weekly service between Shymkent and Medina, Saudi Arabia.
A new twice weekly service from Almaty – Kazakhstan's largest metropolis in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains – to Medina will also be launched on 29 October 2024, in addition to the airline's existing Almaty to Jeddah service.

All flights to Saudi Arabia will be operated by Airbus A321LR aircraft configured with 16 business class seats and 150 economy class seats.
The flight time from Shymkent to Jeddah and Shymkent to Medina will be five hours and 35 mins. Flight time from Almaty to Medina will be six hours and 10 mins.
The price of round-trip Economy class tickets including all fees starts from US$656 for Shymkent to Jeddah flights, US$646 for Shymkent to Medina, and US$705 for Almaty to Medina.
Kazakhstan citizens are required to obtain an e-visa before travelling to Saudi Arabia.
