Twice-weekly service provides access to Egypt’s rising coastal destination
Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways has launched direct, seasonal flights to Al Alamein, providing UAE travellers with “more summer holiday options closer to home”.
The introduction of this service underscores Etihad’s aggressive growth strategy, with the airline targeting 125 destinations by 2030, an increase of 38.9% compared to its current network size

Etihad is deploying its Airbus A320 on the route, offering both Business and Economy cabins, with schedules designed for easy weekend breaks or longer summer escapes.

Al Alamein, recently named the Arab Summer Resort Capital for 2025, is increasingly appealing to travellers from the Gulf, drawn by its wide sandy beaches, clear waters and vibrant seasonal events.
Set alongside the Mediterranean and within easy reach of the historic hub of Alexandria, the town is well known for its World War II heritage sites, such as the El Alamein War Museum and the Commonwealth cemetery, but in recent years has reinvented itself with stylish new waterfront developments and a cosmopolitan dining scene.
This growing popularity is further highlighted by Flydubai, which will also begin a new Dubai-Al Alamein seasonal service in 2025.
This launch comes at a pivotal moment for Etihad, as the airline targets 21.5 million passengers by the end of the year, more than double the number flown in 2022.
Speaking to Emirates News Agency, Etihad CEO Antonoaldo Neves said robust fleet expansion is enabling this rapid growth, with the airline expecting to operate between 115 and 120 aircraft by year-end.
The carrier moved more than 10 million passengers in the first half of 2025 alone, and recently posted a 30% surge in profits to a record AED686 million for the first quarter, with passenger numbers for the period rising 16% compared to the previous year.
