Emirate earns top social media visibility spot
Dubai’s Burj Khalifa has topped a 2026 global ranking of the world’s most Instagrammable landmarks, according to data compiled by PlayersTime.
The landmark generated more than 10.1 million tagged posts across Instagram and TikTok and attracted more than 1.1 million monthly Google searches, ranking ahead of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France and the Grand Canyon in Arizona, US.
Other UAE attractions to make the list included the Jumeirah Beach viewpoint overlooking Burj Al Arab, with nearly 2.9 million tagged posts, placing it among the region’s most photographed locations. Dubai was named the world’s most Instagrammable city, recording more than 190 million tagged posts across Instagram and TikTok and 3.43 million monthly Google searches.
Barcelona followed in second place, attracting 23 million monthly Google searches, the highest search volume in the study, alongside 97 million tagged social media posts. London, Paris and New York also featured among the top-performing destinations.

World’s greatest places in 2026, according to Time Magazine
According to the report, urban destinations dominated the rankings, with cities increasingly competing for traveller attention through social media visibility as well as traditional tourism appeal.
Europe accounted for eight of the world’s 20 most Instagrammable landmarks, with sites including the Eiffel Tower, Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain and the Colosseum in Rome, Italy featuring prominently. Other high-ranking attractions included the Taj Mahal in Agra, India and Machu Picchu in Peru.
The report also highlighted growing interest in lesser-known destinations, including Setenil de las Bodegas in Spain, Hitachi Seaside Park in Japan and Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives.
The findings come as UAE attractions continue to gain international recognition. Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi’s Zayed National Museum was named among the World’s Most Beautiful Museums in the 2026 Prix Versailles selection unveiled at Unesco Headquarters in Paris. The museum was the only Gulf institution included in the annual list.
