The property is set within the historic The Mere, which dates back to 1086. The estate was acquired by Dubai-based Select Group in 2022 for £35 million (US$47 million) and then underwent a £90 million (US$121 million) renovation.
Israr Liaqat, Group Chief Executive Officer, Select Group, said: “Our ambition from the outset was to create something that would set a new standard for luxury hospitality in the North West of England.”
The hotel also offers multiple event venues, including a 1,000-square-metre ballroom with capacity for 1,000 guests, alongside four boardrooms with garden views.
Gary Johnson, General Manager of Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere, said: “Fairmont Cheshire The Mere is a place defined by its setting – the lake, the fairways and the sense of space that surrounds it, all of which create a natural feeling of ease and connection.”
The hotel will become Fairmont’s fourth property in the UK, joining Fairmont St Andrews, Fairmont Windsor Park and The Savoy, A Fairmont Hotel. The brand operates more than 90 properties worldwide.
