Neal Jones is promoted amid global leadership realignment
Marriott International has appointed Neal Jones as its new President for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as the company reshapes its global leadership structure. Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer for Europe and Africa, Jones will step into the role on 28 March, succeeding Satya Anand, who has been promoted to Group President, US, Canada and Caribbean and Latin America (CALA).
Anand, a Marriott veteran of 37 years who has led the EMEA region since 2020, will transition to his new role as part of a wider leadership realignment prompted by the planned retirement of two long-serving executives. Liam Brown, Group President, US and Canada, and Brian King, President, Enterprise Transformation & CALA, will both step down from their positions at the end of March and retire from the company at the end of June 2026.
In his new position, Jones will oversee operations across nearly 80 countries and territories and more than 1,300 properties spanning 30 brands, steering Marriott’s growth across the EMEA region. He will join Anand on Marriott’s executive leadership team, with both reporting to Anthony Capuano, President and CEO, Marriott International.
Jones said he would focus first on “listening and learning”, working closely with Anand and the wider EMEA leadership team over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition. In a post shared on LinkedIn, he noted his intention to engage across markets to celebrate existing successes and explore “where we can go further, together”.
With more than 30 years at Marriott, Jones brings extensive experience across sales, marketing and operations, as well as a track record in senior commercial leadership roles in multiple countries. As Chief Sales & Marketing Officer for EMEA, he led commercial strategy and brand positioning, strengthening the group’s presence in key markets before being appointed COO in July 2024.

In his current role, Jones is responsible for the strategy and performance of around 1,000 hotels across Europe and Africa and leads EMEA’s Owner & Partner Relations strategy and team. He also spearheaded, and now leads globally, the integration of Design Hotels into Marriott’s portfolio, a collection of around 300 owner-operated, design-led properties worldwide.
Marriott said Jones’ deep market knowledge, strategic approach and commitment to the company’s culture will help shape the next phase of growth in EMEA, with an emphasis on innovation and strengthening relationships with owners. Based in the United Kingdom, Jones is a graduate of Hotelschool The Hague in the Netherlands.
Commenting on his appointment, Jones described EMEA as “a region of extraordinary diversity and opportunity” and said he looked forward to partnering with associates, owners, franchisees and communities to build on the strong momentum across Marriott’s brands.
