Next-generation ship to debut with maiden voyage in March 2026
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) marked the upcoming debut of Norwegian Luna with an exclusive media event in Dubai, strengthening its commitment to the Middle East and Africa region.
The event, led by Kevin Bubolz, Vice President and Managing Director for Continental Europe, Middle East & Africa, and Rebecca Ransom, Business Development Manager, MEA, brought together key Dubai media including Connecting Travel’s Editorial Director Sarah Hedley Hymers and International Sales Manager Adam Rawcliffe.
Speaking at the event, Bubolz said: “Dubai is a forward-thinking city, one that embodies innovation and connection — values at the core of NCL. We are confident Norwegian Luna’s expansive spaces and guest-centric service will resonate strongly with Middle Eastern travellers.”
He further added that Luna, a Prima Plus class ship able to accommodate up to 3,571 guests, is crafted for contemporary comfort and designed to maximise ocean views throughout.
Drawing inspiration from sister ship Norwegian Aqua, Luna will set sail on her inaugural transatlantic crossing on 10 March 2026 before homeporting in Miami for year-round Caribbean itineraries to key signature destinations.
The ship features 123 suites, including spacious three-bedroom duplex suites with round-the-clock butler and concierge service.
Guests staying in The Haven by Norwegian’s private enclave can enjoy access to a dedicated restaurant and bar, a peaceful sun deck with infinity pool, hot tubs, sauna and cold room.
Dining options are extensive, and entertainment highlights include a theatre that transforms into a nightclub after dark and the return of the popular Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid waterslide and rollercoaster.

Wellness offerings are equally strong, with the two-storey Mandara Spa delivering features such as an indoor waterfall, hot and cold therapy circuit, IV Drip Therapy, and a thermal suite with NCL favourites such as the charcoal sauna and salt room.
Beyond Luna, the team at NCL also shared with Dubai media updates on destination enhancements.
Great Stirrup Cay, the cruise line’s private Bahamian island, is undergoing significant upgrades set to debut in phases over the next year. Plans include a new multi-ship pier, a heated pool with swim-up bars, and the introduction of a tram service in 2025.
These will be followed in 2026 by the launch of Great Tides Waterpark — featuring 19 waterslides and a winding river — plus new luxury cabanas, Vibe Shore Club, and Hammock Bay for guests seeking relaxation.
Commenting on the regional response, Ransom said there had been “overwhelming enthusiasm” from its partners across the Middle East and Africa.
“Bringing these NCL announcements to Dubai provides a valuable opportunity to reinforce our long-term commitment to the market. From the elevated experience in The Haven to the upgrades at Great Stirrup Cay, these developments are designed with our guests’ evolving preferences in mind.”
Complementing its Middle East engagement, the brand is also broadening its European footprint, with Norwegian Viva preparing to operate itineraries next year focused on longer port stays and a variety of destinations including Barcelona and Rome.
