Jeddah remained the kingdom’s busiest hub

Saudi’s international network expanded to 176 destinations across 66 countries in 2025. Among the leading carriers, Saudia accounted for 25.5% of total air traffic, followed by Flynas at 13.3% and Flyadeal at 8.6%.
Saudi airports also continued to play a regional operational role during recent airspace disruption, with Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport temporarily supporting Kuwait and Bahrain operations.
Early 2026 saw the reopening of Terminal 2 at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, increasing capacity by 130% following earlier upgrades to Terminal 1. Improvements include e-gates, expanded halls and enhanced baggage systems.
Riyadh operations will eventually shift to King Salman International Airport, which is expected to handle up to 40 million passengers annually. The hub will also serve as the home base for Riyadh Air, Saudi’s newest national carrier.
