Mark Wouters brings more than 20 years of experience
Mark Wouters has been appointed as the new General Manager for The Chedi Hegra in Saudi Arabia’s AlUla.
With more than two decades of international experience, Wouters has held senior leadership roles across Europe, Asia and Oceania, including positions with Mandarin Oriental and Langham Hospitality Group. He most recently served as Head of Operations at Seren in Wales.
Wouters’ new role marks his entry into the Middle East, bringing a strong track record in leading pre-openings and brand development, specialising in ultra-luxury properties.
As General Manager, Wouters will oversee operations across the property, with a focus on guest experience, as well as team culture.

Commenting on the hotel’s vision, Wouters said: “At The Chedi Hegra, our focus is on creating a guest experience that is thoughtful, understated and deeply connected to its surroundings, allowing guests to engage with the destination in a meaningful and authentic way.”
Opened in 2024, The Chedi Hegra is the kingdom’s only hotel based in a Unesco World Heritage Site. The hotel is set at Hegra, an archaeological site dating back more than 2,000 years, known for its natural mountain formations and ancient tombs. With just 35 rooms, the property is designed to preserve the site’s original structures, while offering guests a tranquil and exclusive experience.
The Dubai-based hospitality group is also expanding its footprint in Saudi, with two new properties – The Chedi Wadi Safar and The Chedi Trojena – scheduled to open in 2026 and 2028, respectively.
