Cruise Saudi partners with Jeddah Historic District to boost visitor numbers

Partnership is pivotal in the strategic regeneration of the district, says director general

The Unesco World Heritage Site of Jeddah Historic District and Cruise Saudi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a partnership to increase cruise visitors numbers and promote regeneration.

Home to more than 600 historic buildings, all displaying distinct local architecture, the Jeddah Historic District will appeal to cruise visitors looking to explore authentic sites and experience local traditions.

Central to the goals of partnership is the desire to preserve the area's distinctive cultural identity and historical landmarks while stimulating local economic growth.

The private sector will be encouraged to help enhance the visitor experience through local entrepreneurship and investment. This proactive involvement aims to boost job creation, foster small businesses and promote sustainable economic activities that benefit the entire community.

With the Jeddah Historic District proving to be one of the most popular shore excursions for cruise passengers, Cruise Saudi CEO Lars Clase added: “This MoU marks an exciting new chapter, paving the way for collaborative efforts to draw even more visitors to this enchanting destination while protecting its heritage and authenticity.”
