Etihad’s inaugural flight will take off on 31 October before the terminal opens to the public

From 1 November 2023, Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminal A will begin operations, resulting in a major increase of passenger capacity to the UAE capital.

Airlines will transition into Terminal A in three phases over a two-week period after Etihad’s ceremonial flight on 31 October.

First, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and 15 other international airlines will fly from the new Terminal on 1 November. Then, from 9 November , Etihad Airways will operate 16 daily flights, before completing their transition to their new home, together with Air Arabia Abu Dhabi and 10 other airlines, from 14 November, by which date all 28 airlines will be operational from Terminal A.

When fully operational, Terminal A will have 35,000 square metres of retail concessionaires and restaurants, as well as two health and beauty spas and a 138-room hotel.

One of the largest airport terminals in the world, Terminal A will double the current airport capacity, with the ability to accommodate up to 45 million passengers a year.

Abu Dhabi Airports managing director and Interim CEO Elena Sorlini said: “I'm proud to say we're ready to open Terminal A. We'll see a rapid increase in the number of flights operating from Terminal A between 1 and 14 November, and I’m excited by the new opportunities that the iconic facility will bring to both airlines and passengers.

"Terminal A will drive the growth of the aviation sector in Abu Dhabi and play an instrumental role in welcoming more businesses and tourists to the emirate for decades to come.”
