New destination near Riyadh to includes suites, villas and desert tents
Accor is expanding its eco-luxury footprint in the GCC with the launch of a Mantis-branded resort in Saudi Arabia, set to open at the end of 2026. The project was revealed during the recently-held Tourise Summit in Riyadh and will mark the brand’s debut in the kingdom following the opening of Mantis Bahrain earlier this year.
Developed in partnership with GIB Capital, design&build and the Tourism Development Fund (TDF), the new property – Basiqat by Mantis – will introduce the brand’s signature concept of “responsible luxury” to a Saudi audience.
Located in Al Uyaynah, around 40 minutes from Riyadh, it will combine "luxury and cultural immersion" through design and experiences that highlight Saudi’s natural environment and cultural heritage.
Basiqat by Mantis will span two distinct sites with 218 keys, offering a mix of 90 suites, 66 villas, 10 Zad Palace Suites, and 52 desert tents. The resort’s layout and design will take cues from the surrounding landscape, combining natural materials, desert hues and traditional influences with modern amenities.
Guests will have access to curated dining options, including a health-focused café, as well as landscaped gardens, indoor and outdoor pools, separate male and female spas, beauty salons and a yoga pavilion. A dedicated souk showcasing heritage crafts, a kids’ club and event facilities are also planned, positioning the property as a sustainable destination for leisure and MICE travellers alike.

“We’re creating a place where guests can connect deeply, explore authentically, and be inspired by the cultural treasures of the region,” said Craig Erasmus, CEO of Mantis Collection.
Qusai Al-Fakhri, CEO of the Tourism Development Fund, described the development as “a new standard for hospitality in Saudi Arabia,” adding that projects such as Basiqat by Mantis align with Saudi Vision 2030’s objective to position the kingdom as a leading destination for sustainable tourism.
The new resort joins Accor’s growing regional pipeline for the Mantis brand, which includes Mantis Al Baha in Saudi and Saij Mountain Lodge by Mantis in Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE. The brand’s existing regional portfolio features Hawar Resort by Mantis in Bahrain, an eco-retreat set in a protected archipelago with 104 beachside and overwater villas, a spa, pool, extensive adventure facilities and a private 1.8km beach.
