Akasa Air to launch direct Mumbai-Kuwait City flights

Kuwait becomes the low-cost airline's fifth international destination

Indian low-cost airline Akasa Air will begin daily direct flights between its hub in Mumbai and Kuwait City from 23 August 2024.

The airline's latest international destination is its fifth outside of India, launched in response to the growing demand for affordable flights on the route.

The service will add significant passenger and cargo capacity to the route and will cater to Visiting Friends and Family (VFR) markets, as well as business travellers.

Booking is now open for the daily flights, which will depart Mumbai at 7:50pm, arriving in Kuwait City at 10pm (local time). The return flight will leave Kuwait at 11pm and land back in Mumbai at 5:35am.

“The addition of Kuwait adds further breadth to our international network, strengthening our position as a key player in connecting India and the Middle East,” Akasa Air’s co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Praveen Iyer said.

“Kuwait and India have historically shared strong bilateral ties, and the launch of a direct service connecting these two major cities will open more avenues for trade and tourism between the two countries.”

Since its launch in August 2022, Akasa Air has flown more than 11 million passengers and, in addition to its five international routes, it serves 22 domestic destinations.
