Ascott expands into Morocco with two new hotels

The two Casablanca properties will add 183 rooms to the operator’s portfolio

Hospitality group The Ascott Limited is set to make its debut in Morocco with two properties set to open over the next two years.

Ascott’s first property in the country, Citadines Racine Casablanca, is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2022 and will be managed by Life Square.

Located in the business district of Racine, the property will comprise 123 keys, including 80 studio units, 23 one-bedroom units and 20 two-bedroom units. There will also be a gym and sports facilities, a resident lounge and a restaurant.

The operator has also partnered with real estate conglomerate Chrifi Alaoui Immobilier to launch Citadines Connect Belvedere Casablanca. Set to open in 2023, it will be the first Citadines Connect in the region.

The boutique-style property, classified as a historical site, is situated at the intersections of Boulevard de la Resistance and Boulevard Mohammed V, the two main arteries of the city.

The existing structure will be converted into a hotel incorporating the Citadines Connect brand standards while maintaining the cultural heritage and style of its external façade. The property will comprise 60 keys, a rooftop gym, a guest lounge and a café.

Vincent Miccolis, Ascott regional general manager for the Middle East, Africa, Turkey and India, said: “With an ever-growing demand for serviced residences, and the absence of internationally-branded apart-hotels in Morocco catering for international corporate travel, we are delighted to introduce Ascott’s award-winning brand Citadines in Casablanca. It will contribute to the country’s growth in tourism and boost the city’s hospitality supply standards. We are excited about these new ventures and look forward to welcoming our guests to Casablanca.”

Ascott joins a list of several other international hospitality companies, including Radisson Hotel Group, that have announced plans to expand their operations in Morocco.
