Bahrain’s new airport terminal set for Q2 2022 opening

Phase two of the expansion – focused on external infrastructure, including departure gates and air bridges – is now complete

More than 50% of the work has been completed in the final phase of the new passenger terminal in the western section of Bahrain International Airport (BIA).

According to the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) chairman, Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, the project is on track to open in the second quarter of 2022.

Mohammed inspected the BIA project site along with representatives from the project consultant, Hill International, the contractor, and several BAC officials.

The delegation was briefed on the progress of the latest phase, which began in February. Phase Two of the project involved the construction of two departure gates, six air bridges and bus departure gates, while the third and final phase will focus on the aircraft fuel supply system.
