Dubai hotspot features in 2024 World’s 50 Best Bars list

Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach bar secures place in prestigious ranking

Fashionable Japanese restaurant bar Mimi Kakushi has ranked at number 40 in the World’s Best Bars list for 2024.

Located within the UAE's Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, Mimi Kakushi is celebrated for is elegant and complex cocktails and impeccable service. 

Part of Rikas Group's collection of award-winning outlets, the venue recalls the "swinging 1920s in Osaka", and is named after the brave and bold Western asymmetric bob hairstyle of the time, which was introduced to Japan in that era and became popular among the fashionable young moga (modern girls) marked a turning point in women's appearance.

The only Middle East bar to make the top 50, Mimi Kakushi is followed by runner-up LPM Dubai, which ranks at number 76 in the extended list, which highlights a total of 100 outlets.

The 2024 list was announced at a live awards ceremony in Madrid, Spain in October.

Now in its 16th edition, the awards brings the global bar community together to recognise bartenders, bar owners and brands leading the international cocktail scene.

Handshake Speakeasy, a two-level bar in Mexico City’s Colonia Juarez neighbourhood, took top honours after ranking third on the list last year. Hong Kong’s Italian-style Bar Leone was a newcomer in second place and was crowned the best bar in Asia as well as scooping the Highest New Entry Award. The third spot went to last year’s winner, Barcelona’s 33-seat Sips.

Monica Berg of London’s Tayēr + Elementary received the Roku Industry Icon Award, with New York’s Superbueno named London Essence Best New Opening.

The rest of the list featured bars from as far afield as Athens, Tokyo, Sydney and Lima.
