High-tech check-in system will improve efficiency
Dubai Airports' Smart Corridor at Dubai International Airport (DXB) will be operational in the third quarter of 2024.
According to Dubai Airports chief operating officer Majed Al Joker, the tunnel-style system will condense three procedures into one; travellers will be able to complete the check-in process and passport procedures, obtain their boarding pass and head directly to the aircraft without stopping anywhere other than the security inspection point.
Al Joker added that investments totalling nearly AED10 billion have been directed towards improving facilities, which are key to processing the number of travellers transiting through the airport.

Reflecting on Dubai Aiports’ 2023 performance, Al Joker said: "We reached 87 million passengers in 2023, up 31% compared to the previous year, surpassing the levels of 2019, and August was the busiest month of the year with 7.9 million passengers."
Currently, waiting times at the security inspection gates do not exceed four minutes for approximately 97% of travellers, while processing through passport control takes seven minutes for more than 95% of passengers.
