UAE city ranks ahead of the Maldives and Key West in Florida
Dubai has been ranked the fourth most in-demand sunset destination in the world, according to PrivacyJournal’s analysis of social media data.
The ranking is based on TikTok views and Instagram posts featuring sunset-related hashtags.
Dubai achieved a score of 88.7, with TikTok views exceeding 33 million and more than 100,000 Instagram posts dedicated to capturing Dubai’s sunset scenes.
The UAE city sits just behind Ibiza in Spain (#3) and ahead of Primrose Hill in London (#5), with Bali in Indonesia taking top spot and the Greek island of Santorini ranking in second place.

When it comes to Dubai as a sunset destination, PrivacyJournal credits the contrast of the city’s modern skyline, beaches and deserts, a combination that allows for a diverse range of sunset experiences, whether viewed from high-rise observation decks or on the sands of the surrounding desert.
This recognition comes on the heels of similar findings by travel insurer AllClear, whose own analysis placed both the Burj Khalifa and Dubai’s desert among the top 15 sunset spots worldwide.

Using meteorological factors like cloud cover, humidity and rainfall — alongside social media activity — the study found that Dubai’s consistently clear conditions and moderate humidity produce some of the most striking sunset views.
The best time of year for sunsets in Dubai is from October to April when there is lower humidity and clearer skies, which contribute to more vivid and colourful sunsets.
Among the best spots in Dubai to experience a sunset, the observation decks at the Burj Khalifa offer panoramic views of both the city and the surrounding desert; while the view from the Dubai Creek Harbour viewing point is the sun setting behind Burj Khalifa and Downtown skyline, which makes for an incredible silhouette.
Along the Arabian Gulf, beaches such as Jumeirah Beach, Palm West Beach, Kite Beach and Sunset Beach (Umm Suqeim) provide prime views of the sunset, with the sky changing colour behind the Burj Al Arab hotel.
For those interested in a desert experience, sunset safaris into the dunes remain a popular activity, with operators timing excursions to capture the moment the sun disappears behind the horizon.
