Dubai’s The Lighthouse restaurant expands across UAE

Two new outlets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi will double the homegrown chain’s total number of outlets

The Lighthouse Restaurant has celebrated its fifth anniversary with the opening of two new branches in the UAE.

Existing outlets in Dubai Design District and Mall of the Emirates are now joined by an outlet at Nakheel Mall, Palm Jumeirah, and a licensed location at Yas Bay Waterfront in Abu Dhabi, which offers indoor and outdoor terrace seating.

As a licensed location, Yas Bay Waterfront features a well-priced wine, cocktail and beer list, as well as a 10-seater reservations-only chef’s table, a bakery and a retail store.

Dishes exclusive to the Yas Bay Waterfront location include crudo seafood; bone marrow Bordelaise; escargots; spaghetti alle vongole; and lobster and caviar pizza – in addition to its core menu of Mediterranean classics.

Daily baked artisan bread and pastries from the in-house bakery include gluten-free and vegan options

Meanwhile, the restaurant at Dubai’s Nakheel Mall offers a more casual, family-friendly vibe with a terrace overlooking Al Ittihad Park. This location will also feature a plant-based menu with dishes including beet tartare and capsicum carpaccio.

In a similar vein to Abu Dhabi, the venue features an in-house bakery with gluten-free and vegan breads, including a zucchini loaf. The drinks menu features botanical mocktails and an expanded specialty coffee menu.

All Lighthouse restaurants are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the Yas Bay Waterfront branch also hosts a weekly Saturday brunch with a set menu of signature dishes served at the table, alongside a drinks package, with music supplied by the resident DJ.

In line with the expansion drive, the homegrown brand – created by founders and owner-operators Hashem Montasser and Hany Bassiouny in 2017 – has created two distinct divisions of the business, each with its own team.

Lighthouse Dining showcases the F&B, while Lighthouse Lifestyle focuses on the retail concept and podcast, as well as other digital assets, such as the brand’s e-shop and curated Spotify playlists.

Commenting on the announcement, Montasser said: “We’re delighted to celebrate our fifth anniversary with the opening of two new restaurants, including our first in Abu Dhabi, at Yas Bay Waterfront, which is licensed – alongside our new venue at Palm Jumeirah in Nakheel Mall.”

We have steered well away from a cookie-cutter approach, ensuring all our four restaurants have completely different visual identities, as well as bespoke, destination-exclusive dishes
