Powered by Inmarsat’s GX Aviation, the wifi will even work over the Arctic
Emirates has announced that its fleet of A350 aircraft will offer passengers inflight broadband from 2024.
The Inmarsat technology will ensure uninterrupted connectivity for passengers on all flights, including those between the Middle East and North America with routes across the Arctic.
Described as one of the most sophisticated commercial communications satellites ever built, the broadband service will be powered by Inmarsat’s Global Xpress (GX) satellite network.

Three additional satellites in geostationary orbit and two in highly elliptical orbit will add speed, capacity and resilience to the network.
According to Emirates, these satellites will enable its mobile broadband service to remain uninterrupted, even on aircraft flying at higher elevations.
