Qatar will be the fourth Gulf nation on the F1 calendar, joining Bahrain, the UAE and Saudi Arabia
It has been confirmed that Qatar will be the latest addition to the Formula 1 calendar.
The Gulf nation will host its first Formula 1 motor race in November 2021 and get a permanent spot on the championship calendar under a 10-year deal that starts in 2023. This is the latest big sporting announcement for Qatar, the host of next year’s FIFA World Cup.
The event will be held at the Losail International Circuit and replaces the Australian Grand Prix, which was cancelled earlier this year due to Covid-related border controls.

A statement on the F1 website read: “The vision for F1 to be the showcase for Qatar after the FIFA World Cup in 2022 was the driving force behind this long term agreement.”
The arrival of both sporting events is set to boost Qatar’s tourism sector as the nation continues to build its standing as a sport and cultural hub.
