Alpine resort under renovation for 2026-27 winter season
One of Europe’s best-known mountain hotels, the Park Gstaad in Switzerland, is being revamped and will be operated by Four Seasons upon completion.
The heritage property, which became the first five-star hotel in Gstaad when it opened in 1910, is owned by philanthropist, investor and sportswoman Dona Bertarelli, with the refurbishment being led by Squircle Capital.
The legendary luxury hotel will reopen as The Park Gstaad, A Four Seasons Hotel in time for the 2026-2027 winter season.
This will be the second Four Seasons in Switzerland, joining sister property Hotel Des Bergues in Geneva.

“Gstaad has long been a favourite destination in Europe for luxury travellers, and we are excited to have the unique opportunity to enter this exclusive market with such an exceptional property,” said Bart Carnahan, President, Global Business Development, Portfolio Management and Residential, Four Seasons.
“We look forward to working with our partners to bring together the very best of this legendary property with the service excellence of Four Seasons to create a world-class luxury experience.”
The Park Gstaad, A Four Seasons Hotel will feature 75 rooms and suites offering scenic views of the Swiss Alps and interiors inspired by the alpine setting and designed by Joseph Dirand.
Within walking distance of the town centre’s restaurants and boutiques, the hotel will also offer restaurant and bar concepts, as well as a destination spa and fitness centre, meeting spaces, a tennis court, ski and bike services and an ice rink in winter.
“We have found the ideal partners for a property that has been part of my personal journey in the region,” added Bertarelli.
“As Gstaad’s first luxury hotel, The Park Gstaad holds a special place in the region’s heritage, and I am excited to unveil its transformation into a Four Seasons experience, where its legacy meets modern elegance for residents and visitors to enjoy.”
Most famous as a winter ski resort with access to 220km of slopes, Gstaad is a year-round destination, with summer activities including hiking, mountain biking and golf. It is also home to bathing lakes and the highest wakeboarding and waterskiing park in Europe.
The city is a two-hour drive from Geneva and can also be reached via Bern airport, and the town’s train station, a five-minute drive from the hotel.
