Germany adds Gulf countries to safe list

Arrivals from the UAE and Bahrain will no longer be required to quarantine

Germany has added the UAE and Bahrain to its safe list, reducing Covid-19 restrictions for travellers arriving from these countries.

The news follows the previous inclusion of Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia to the list, and the easing of restrictions applies to all travellers 12 years and above regardless of individual vaccination status.

According to the new regulations, visitors are now only required to provide a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of travel, a valid vaccination certificate or proof of recovery to enter the country.

German National Tourist Office sales and marketing director Yamina Sofo said: “The new travel regulations for GCC visitors makes travel to Germany easier and more appealing.

“The winter season remains an important travel period for Germany, and this news will support regional travellers’ interested in exploring the array of festive seasonal markets, spa and wellness retreats, and outdoor sporting activities across Germany.”

The safe list of countries is reviewed and revised every two weeks by the EU authorities and member states.
