Hyatt appoints new President for global all-inclusive portfolio

Javier Águila will take on the role while maintaining his position as Group President of EAME

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has appointed Javier Águila as President of the Inclusive Collection, to drive growth of its global all-inclusive portfolio.

From 1 March 2025, Águila will take on this role while maintaining his current position as Group President of EAME, where he oversees Hyatt's operations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The move marks a significant step in Hyatt's evolution towards a more brand-focused organisation, following the recent launch of five brand segments: Lifestyle, Luxury, Inclusive, Classics and Essentials.

This restructuring, which includes the formation of a dedicated Lifestyle group led by Amar Lalvani, aims to deliver tailored experiences that meet the diverse needs of Hyatt's guests.

With a career in hospitality, tourism and consulting spanning more than two decades, Águila has overseen Hyatt’s EAME regional portfolio since October 2022, a collection of more than 200 properties, including those in the UAE, Saudi, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Jordan.

For his contribution to driving growth in hospitality in the Middle East, Águila has been recognised by Forbes Middle East and Hotelier Middle East on various power lists.

Águila joined Hyatt through the acquisition of Apple Leisure Group in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the all-inclusive sector.

Beginning his career in private equity and management consulting, in 2014 he founded and ran Alua Hotels and Resorts, which was acquired in 2019 by ALG, becoming part of Hyatt in 2021.

In his new role, Águila will oversee Hyatt's global all-inclusive business, which spans some 55,000 rooms across 11 Inclusive Collection brands. This portfolio recently expanded with the addition of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, following a 50/50 strategic joint venture with Grupo Piñero.

He will oversee all aspects, including development, operations, branding and commercial performance.

Commenting on Aguila’s appointment, Mark Hoplamazian, President and CEO, Hyatt, said: “I am confident he will bring the full potential of our growing Inclusive Collection to bear and further advance Hyatt’s position as a leader in all-inclusive, caring even more deeply for guests, customers and owners in this exciting segment.

“Javier possesses a growth mindset and is filled with ideas for innovation and continuous improvement in performance for all our Inclusive Collection brands.”
