IHG’s latest Thai property will have 240 keys
InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping will open in Chiang Mai’s old town this autumn and pays homage to the architectural and artistic heritage of the historic Lanna Kingdom to which Chiang Mai used to belong.
Overlooking the Doi Suthep mountain, the hotel’s 240 rooms and suites feature traditional techniques ranging from lacquering, wood carving and sculptures to metal beating.

Natural materials such as stone and wood also feature heavily,while contemporary art pieces commissioned from local artists celebrate Chiang Mai’s status as Thailand’s emergent creative capital.

The hotel’s culinary offering includes The Gad Lanna, which serves breakfast and Thai cuisine with a focus on flavours of the north for lunch and dinner, and up on the 16th floor is signature venue Hong’s Chinese Restaurant & Sky Bar, inspired by Lanna-Chinese trade links.
Wood, which permeates through the Lanna architecture and culture, is the main material of the hotel’s gym, which is open 24 hours.
