Carrier to reinstate select routes and cancel others in a bid to improve profitability

Oman's national carrier, Oman Air, is restructuring operations, reintroducing select flights while cancelling others in a strategic move aimed at optimising the airline’s network and aligning with Oman’s long-term economic vision.

Winter services will be resumed to Zurich, Switzerland from 5 October 2024, to Malé, Maldives from 27 October 2024, and to Moscow, Russia from 29 October 2024, while several routes to Asia will cease.

Oman Air will discontinue four routes to Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as part of its effort to streamline operations and focus on more profitable routes that align with the airline’s strategic goals.

The restructuring also includes a reduction in flight frequencies to certain destinations, with specific routes and frequency changes yet to be announced.

The carrier will transition three of its existing routes to seasonal operations, reflecting demand fluctuations, which is expected to help the airline better manage resources and reduce operational costs while still maintaining a presence in key markets during high seasons.

Oman Air currently operates direct flights from Muscat to over 40 destinations across Europe, the Far East, Indian Subcontinent, Africa and Middle East. Further changes will be announced soon.
