Prince William to visit Expo 2020 Dubai next month

During his visit, the senior royal will learn more about environmental conservation initiatives in the region

Prince William will visit the UAE next month, visiting Expo 2020 Dubai to mark the UK’s national day on 10 February 2022.

On what will be his first official visit to the country, His Royal Highness will join the celebrations, which will also feature the Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay, launched by her majesty from Buckingham Palace in October, as it parades through the Expo site to visit Commonwealth national pavilions.

During his visit, Prince William will learn more about initiatives that provide protected areas for the unique flora and fauna of the region, and take the opportunity to highlight two Royal Foundation programmes: United for Wildlife and the Earthshot Prize.

United for Wildlife, established by Prince William in 2014, has been working in the region to help facilitate efforts to counter the trade in illegal wildlife, which poses an existential threat to the iconic species.

The visit also provides an opportunity to showcase the Earthshot Prize  as well as Dubai’s commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism on the world stage at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The Dubai Sustainable Tourism (DST) initiative was recently established to enhance the sustainability of the tourism sector and to ensure the continual development of best practices and sustainable development targets.
