Qatar Airways to introduce complimentary high-speed onboard Wi-Fi

The airline will be the first in the MENA region to offer free internet connectivity

Qatar Airways will rollout Starlink's high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi across its entire fleet over the next two years and the airline intends to equip three of its Boeing 777-300 aircraft with the technology by the last quarter of 2024.

Starlink is billed as “the world’s largest satellite internet constellation” and is engineered and operated by SpaceX. 

The agreement makes Qatar Airways the first airline in the MENA region to introduce complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi onboard, giving passengers “one-click-access” to ultra-high-speed connectivity of up to 500MB per second. This will enable passengers to video stream their chosen entertainment and sports videos and have the option of online gaming while in the air.
