Sheraton to debut in Saudi’s Al Khobar in 2028

Marriott teams with Ashaad Company for 580-key hotel

Marriott International will open the Sheraton Al Khobar Al Hamra property in 2028, marking the debut of the brand in the Saudi city of Al Khobar.

Located on the country’s east coast, on the Arabian Gulf, Sheraton Al Khobar Al Hamra will be close to the King Fahd Causeway that connects Saudi to Bahrain.

Expected to open in 2028, Sheraton Al Khobar Al Hamra will feature 580 rooms and suites and three culinary concepts, all enhanced by tech-enabled design. There are also plans for banquet halls, meeting rooms, conference halls and a range of recreational facilities.

“Sheraton has had a long-standing presence in the kingdom, and we are excited to work with Ashaad Company to further expand the brand’s portfolio in the country with its entry into Al Khobar,” said Chadi Hauch, Regional Vice President, Lodging Development, Middle East, Marriott International.

“This hotel will embody Sheraton’s new identity, offering guests a unique experience through enhanced services and designs while staying true to its legacy. This deal also further supports the demand we are seeing for business and leisure travel into the Eastern Province of the country.”

Ali bin Mohammed Al Ali, Chairman of Ashaad, said the agreement with Marriott International and Aleph Hospitality to introduce the Sheraton brand to Al Khobar was an important step in Ashaad’s hotel projects.

Aleph Hospitality, the largest independent hotel management company in the Middle East and Africa, will operate the franchised property.

“We are honoured to be entrusted with the management of what will be a landmark hotel in Al Khobar,” said Tariq Dowidar, Vice President, KSA, Aleph Hospitality. “This will be our third property in collaboration with Marriott International in the Middle East and we look forward to welcoming the first guests and providing them with the exceptional guest experience Sheraton is world-renowned for.”

Al Khobar is a growing destination, with recent hotel openings including Voco Al Khobar and Dar Rayhaan by Rotana. Ennismore has also just unveiled plans for The 25Hours Hotel Heart of Kobar, a 170-key property currently in development with WATG London, and a 200-key Hotel Indigo & Residences Al Khobar is set to open in 2027.
