High-octane aquatic adventures debut at two resorts
Two luxury Sun Siyam properties in the Maldives have added an unexpected twist to the typical barefoot island getaway, with an adrenaline-fuelled ride across the lagoon in a state-of-the-art Jet Car.
Now available at Sun Siyam Iru Veli and Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, the new water experience gives guests a unique way to explore the Maldives’ turquoise waters.
Combining sleek style with high performance, each vessel is powered by a Yamaha engine and fitted with intuitive controls, making it accessible for both seasoned thrill-seekers and first-timers.
Guests can opt for guided Jet Car excursions, with a professional driver at the helm navigating the lagoon, or choose private hire to take the wheel themselves, shadowed by a safety guide on a jet ski.
Built-in Bluetooth speakers allow guests to set their own soundtrack as they make waves.

Adding to the fun, each property features a distinct design: at Vilu Reef, a streamlined glossy white Jet Car stands out against the Indian Ocean’s deep blues, while Iru Veli’s vibrant bright-pink version adds a playful pop of colour to the horizon.
Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Founder and Managing Director of Sun Siyam Resorts, said: "We are always looking for ways to surprise and delight our guests. The Jet Car is not just about speed, it’s about enjoying the Maldives from a brand-new perspective, blending luxury, innovation and a sense of adventure."
The launch coincides with limited-time summer offers at both resorts. At Iru Veli, a 7-night stay includes complimentary round-trip seaplane transfers for two, a veranda breakfast, a Lucky Dolphin Cruise, US$100 (AED367) spa credit, plus other benefits.
Vilu Reef’s seasonal promotion features complimentary transfers, sparkling wine and fruit on arrival, a floating or in-villa breakfast, a 30-minute couple’s spa session, a room upgrade (subject to availability) and free stays for children under 12.
Bookings for the summer packages are open until 31 August 2025.
Also debuting is the newly renovated Nautilus Bar at Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, now reopened as an elevated oceanfront retreat. Thoughtfully redesigned, the bar combines inventive cocktails and uninterrupted views over the Indian Ocean.
Since opening its first resort in 1998, Sun Siyam Resorts has expanded its luxury portfolio to include six private-island properties across the Maldives and Sri Lanka, each blending Maldivian warmth with distinctive guest experiences.
