The new services are set to begin in October
Low-cost UAE carrier Wizz Air will commence flights from Abu Dhabi to Moldova and Romania next month.
The service connecting the UAE and Romania’s second-most populous city, Cluj-Napoca, will take to the skies on 2 October, with Wednesday and Saturday frequencies, while the route to Moldova’s Chisinau will start from 28 October, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Chisinau, which is situated on the Bic River, has 23 lakes and is Moldova’s political, economic and cultural hub. It also has one of the highest proportions of natural green spaces of any city in Europe.

Cluj-Napoca, known as “the heart of Transylvania”, is a cultural and educational hub renowned for “its history and baroque architecture, tradition and modernity”.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi Managing Director Johan Eidhagen said: “Chisinau and Cluj-Napoca are unique, affordable travel destinations steeped in history.
“We are delighted to launch direct flights between the UAE and Moldova, one of the least visited countries in Europe, to foster connectivity with hassle-free travel.”
He added that the airline was reaffirming its commitment to Romania, after Bucharest.
Tickets can be purchased on the WIZZ mobile app, with both routes accessible in Arabic.
