Abu Dhabi-based airline signs partnership with SKY express
UAE travellers now have access to 24 Greek islands following Etihad Airways’ new codeshare agreement with Greece’s regional carrier SKY express.
Already operating a daily Abu Dhabi-Athens service, Etihad now makes it easy for passengers to connect through the Greek capital to an extensive selection of island destinations.
The agreement also opens connectivity to three more Eastern Mediterranean cities.
Popular destinations now available to Etihad passengers include Crete, Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini and Kos, alongside in-demand locations such as Corfu, Thessaloniki and Paros.
This comes as Paros is named among Expedia’s Top 10 Best Islands (Best for Nightlife), with the island experiencing a 45% surge in traveller interest according to the company’s latest data.
Under the codeshare arrangement, Etihad will place its EY flight code on select SKY express-operated flights from Athens, allowing customers to book a single itinerary from Abu Dhabi through to their final destination.
Travellers will benefit from a streamlined check-in process and automatic transfer of baggage, offering a simplified and convenient travel experience.
Commenting on the partnership, Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, said: “SKY express’s comprehensive island network perfectly complements our Athens service, giving travellers seamless access to some of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful destinations through a single booking.”

Greece has always been a popular destination for UAE travellers, thanks to its luxury tourism experiences, rich cultural heritage, scenic islands and warm hospitality.
Among the country’s many islands, Santorini is celebrated for its volcanic cliffs, whitewashed architecture and sunsets over the caldera, while Mykonos is famed for its nightlife and vibrant beach club scene.
Less well-known Paros was named the Best Island in the World by Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2025, standing out for its "authentic charm and natural beauty".
