Three-weekly service to connect GCC travellers to Spain’s Balearic Islands from June 2026
Etihad Airways will launch flights from Abu Dhabi to Palma de Mallorca in June 2026, becoming the first airline to directly link Asia and the Middle East with the capital of Spain’s Balearic Islands.
Starting 12 June and running through mid-September, the seasonal service will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, opening a new gateway for GCC holidaymakers heading to Mallorca, Ibiza and the surrounding islands.
The route will be served by the Middle East’s first Airbus A321LR, recently introduced to Etihad’s fleet and configured with wide-body-style premium cabins, including flat-bed First Class suites with closing doors.
Departing Zayed International Airport (AUH) at 02:55, the morning flight will land in Palma (PMI) at 08:15, with the return service leaving PMI at 10:30 and arriving back in AUH at 19:00.
Blending cosmopolitan style with Mediterranean charm, Palma offers a mix of attractions, from Gothic landmarks and centuries-old alleyways to luxury resorts, lively marinas and seafood restaurants along its golden coastline.
Visitors can take in the island’s impressive cathedral, sail the turquoise waters, indulge in tapas across its plazas or escape to serene mountain villages.
“Palma de Mallorca is the perfect addition to our summer schedule,” said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways.

“From marinas and lively nightlife to secluded coves and historic towns, Mallorca has something for every traveller.”
Palma marks the 29th new route announced by Etihad in 2025, taking the carrier’s network to nearly 90 cities worldwide, with recent highlights including flights to Boston in the US and Bali in Indonesia.
Supporting its growth strategy, Etihad has 28 Boeing wide-bodies on firm order and expects delivery of a further 18 aircraft before the end of 2025, bolstering capacity and service enhancements across the network.
The Palma announcement follows a record-breaking performance for Etihad. In the first half of 2025, the airline reported a profit after tax of AED1.1 billion, representing a 32% increase on the same period last year, which itself had set new benchmarks.
