Madinah property to be located opposite the new Haramain high-speed railway station
IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to open a 383-room Crowne Plaza hotel in Madinah in 2026, joining nine operational Crowne Plaza properties in Saudi Arabia and five more in the pipeline.
Slated to open in 2026, Crowne Plaza Madinah Al Haramain will be strategically located just steps from the Prophet’s Mosque and directly opposite the new Haramain high-speed railway station, providing guests with direct access to Makkah and Jeddah through an underground tunnel.
The 383-key hotel is developed in partnership with Arbah Tayba Real Estate Company and will be part of a mixed-use development near major projects such as Knowledge Economic City and Rua Al Madinah, the latter being designed to transform the area east of the Prophet’s Mosque into a modern hub of hospitality and culture.
This addition comes as visitor numbers to Madinah rose 18.7% in 2024, reaching 18 million, with the Holy City targeting 30 million visitors by 2030, driven by interest in more than 400 religious, historical, and cultural landmarks.
There will be 383 contemporary rooms and suites and two destination dining outlets, all designed to foster connection and wellbeing.
Facilities at the hotel will focus on comfort and flexibility, prioritising seamless check-in, relaxed communal areas and spaces designed for productivity and rest.
Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, IHG Hotels & Resorts, India, Middle East and Africa, commented: "This partnership with Arbah Tayba Real Estate Company to introduce Crowne Plaza Madinah Al Haramain is the latest milestone in our growing Saudi portfolio and further underlines our commitment to the kingdom."

The launch comes as Madinah’s hospitality sector experiences a sharp upswing, with the number of licensed facilities surging to over 450 in 2024, a 93% year-on-year increase.
The city now boasts more than 20,600 hotel rooms and reports industry-leading occupancy rates, reaching over 81% in early 2025.
Madinah’s expansion is set against the backdrop of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030, which will see over 362,000 new hotel rooms delivered nationwide by the end of the decade, with 42,800 rooms currently under contract across the Kingdom.
IHG’s activity in the kingdom includes 45 hotels under six brands, with expansion plans targeting over 50 new properties and 15,000 additional rooms by 2030.
