Saudi hub in talks with Singapore infrastructure group
Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) is targeting capacity of more than 90 million passengers annually by 2030 as its operator, Jeddah Airports Company, explores expansion plans.
The operator is in talks with Singapore-based infrastructure consultancy Surbana Jurong, which has worked on airport projects including the expansion of Singapore Changi Airport.
By 2030, the operator aims to expand Jeddah’s network to more than 150 destinations, handle 15 million transit passengers and raise air cargo capacity to 2.5 million tonnes.
Both sides also discussed plans to introduce talent initiatives for Saudi nationals in engineering, infrastructure, and project management. The initiative would include development opportunities such as professional mentorship and participation in international airport projects through Surbana Jurong Academy programmes.
