New thrice-weekly service marks the airline’s fifth destination in Saudi Arabia
Oman Air will launch non-stop flights between Muscat and Taif in 2026, adding direct access from the Omani capital to Saudi Arabia’s mountain “summer capital”.
The new service becomes the carrier’s fifth destination in the kingdom, joining Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Madinah, and further strengthening its regional network.
Starting 31 January, flights will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, using a Boeing 737. The service is scheduled to depart Muscat International Airport (MCT) at 13:30 and arrive in Taif International Airport (TIF) at 15:50, with the return leg leaving TIF at 16:40 and landing back in MCT at 20:35.

Set in the Sarawat Mountains in western Saudi Arabia, Taif is known for its cooler climate, rose farms and traditional distilleries, dramatic viewpoints, hiking trails, a scenic cable car and a collection of family-friendly parks. Travellers can explore the old town’s historic souqs and Shubra Palace, then transition seamlessly to modern museums, malls and restaurants that highlight the city’s Hijazi culture.
Commenting on the launch, Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis said the addition of Taif “reinforces the strong economic and cultural links between Oman and Saudi Arabia” and supports the airline’s strategy to offer guests more choice across the region.
The move follows a series of recent network enhancements, including the introduction of a direct Muscat–Amsterdam service and increased capacity on the London Heathrow-Muscat route, which is set to become double-daily by summer 2026. The airline has also made its Muscat–Moscow route a year-round operation, with additional frequencies added during the peak summer months.
