Mahmoud Sakr brings 30 years’ experience in hospitality leadership
The Chedi Muscat has appointed Mahmoud Sakr as its new General Manager, placing him at the helm of the group’s flagship beachfront property in Oman.
His appointment follows the promotion of Karim Bizid to Chief Operating Officer at Chedi Hospitality.
In his new role, Sakr will oversee the strategic operations of the award-winning Muscat property, which was the first Chedi to open in the Middle East, in 2003, and features 162 rooms and suites, three pools, six restaurants, a private beach, a Balinese spa, health club and tennis courts.
Sakr brings more than 30 years’ hospitality experience and a proven track record in managing luxury hotels, having held senior management positions in leading hospitality groups across the Middle East and North Africa.
No stranger to Chedi Hospitality, Sakr most recently served as GM at The Chedi Hegra, where he led the opening of Chedi’s debut property in Saudi and the kingdom’s first hotel within a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Prior to this, Sakr played a pivotal role in Jumeirah Group’s journey over more than a decade, with leadership roles at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray & Royal Residences and as General Manager at Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Mina A’Salam.

His career also includes senior positions at St Regis Almasa in Cairo and at Le Méridien, where he spent 13 years across properties in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Senegal.
Originally from Egypt, Sakr is known for his operational precision and guest-centric approach, he combines tradition with innovation to deliver exceptional results.

Founded in Asia but now headquartered in Dubai, Chedi Hospitality has seven Chedi-branded hotels, including five in the Middle East, and recently launched a new hotel brand, Serai, designed to "blend immersive entertainment, reimagined local traditions and active wellness experiences".
