Kleindienst Group and RAK Ports agree to build marine facility and groundbreaking vessel
A state-of-the-art marine facility in the UAE emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is set to be developed by Kleindienst Group and RAK Port following the signing a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this week.
The maritime facility will have four sections, the first of which will be called the ‘Viking’ section and include the design and construction of a 144-metre giga-yacht, the first ever of its kind to be built outside of Europe.
This achievement will see Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) join the ranks of the Netherlands, Germany and Italy as the fourth region in the world capable of constructing giga-yachts, as well as the first destination in the GCC region capable of the feat. There are fewer than 100 such locations in the world.
The second section of the shipyard will include a ‘Coral Garden’, which focuses on the construction of The Heart of Europe's first-of-its-kind underwater living experience in the form of the Floating Seahorse Villas, the Floating Venice resort, the Floating Lido hotel, floating solar systems, and coral gardens and reefs transported from The Heart of Europe project – a US$6 billion, six-island destination within The World Islands, 6km off the coast of Dubai.
The ‘Tug’ section will handle the construction of barges, and supply and transportation vessels, with plans to more than double Kleindienst Group’s current fleet, while the ‘Ferry’ section will be dedicated to passenger transportation, and fishing, sailing and diving boats.
