This will enable those vaccinated in the UAE to present digital proof instead of printed certificates
The UAE has been added to the EU’s Digital Covid Certificate system, facilitating travel to the member states for those vaccinated in the country.
Though vaccine certificates issued in the UAE are already recognised in the EU in printed format, this decision allows people vaccinated in the UAE who use the Al Hosn app in the same way EU Digital Covid Certificate has been used since it was introduced in July.
By providing each user with a QR code, the initiative allows users travelling within the EU to prove that they are fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19. It can also be used as proof of a recent negative PCR test.

This latest decision means that the Al Hosn app will soon be updated with a new EU Pass that visitors to the 27-member zone will be able to use as proof of vaccination at the border.
According to the European Commission, the UAE had also agreed to accept the EU Digital Covid Certificate for EU nationals travelling to the Emirates.
Along with the UAE, a total of 28 non-EU countries have joined the EU Digital Covid Certificate scheme. Lebanon, Morocco and Israel have also joined the initiative.
The date on which the EU Pass will be added to the Al Hosn app is still to be confirmed.
