Low-cost carrier’s latest introduction shaped by customer feedback and expectations
Dubai-based carrier Flydubai has introduced complimentary meals and inflight entertainment for all Economy Class passengers, marking a major upgrade to its onboard experience.
The enhancement, designed to offer travellers a more “elevated and convenient” journey, follows customer feedback and forms part of the Emirates-owned airline’s continued investment in raising service standards.
Passengers can now enjoy a selection of complimentary meals, light snacks and beverages inspired by the destinations Flydubai serves, spanning Africa, India, the Middle East, Russia and Southeast Asia.
An upgraded entertainment system offers more than 1,000 films across Hollywood, Bollywood, Arabic and international categories, along with TV programmes from leading networks including HBO Max, BBC Kids and Cartoon Network.
The system also features interactive games, E-magazines, over 700 music albums and podcasts, plus real-time flight information and destination guides.
Commenting on the launch, Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at Flydubai, said: “By including meals and inflight entertainment in every ticket, we’re modifying the Economy Class fare structure and ensuring passengers get more value while remaining competitive.”
He added: “Over the years, our agile business model has enabled us to adapt quickly to challenges and unlock new opportunities as we continue to evolve and grow.”

The announcement builds on a number of other recent initiatives designed to enhance the passenger journey, including plans to increase hand luggage capacity by 33% on 21 of its Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Flydubai also recently opened its first city check-in centre in Sharjah, where passengers can collect boarding passes between 24 and six hours before departure, invested in a dedicated Business Class check-in area and launched a new Business Class Lounge at Dubai International (DXB) Terminal 2.
As Flydubai prepares for further expansion, it expects to take delivery of nine new aircraft in 2025, bringing its total fleet to 95 Boeing 737s by year-end.
A retrofit programme across its Next-Generation Boeing 737-800s will introduce additional storage space, new Economy Class seats and the carrier’s signature lie-flat Business Class.
By year-end, Flydubai’s network will cover 135 destinations, including four weekly flights to Nairobi launching 15 October, as well as new routes to Iași in Romania—its first connection to the city—and Moldova’s capital Chișinău.
