Jenan Al Askari brings more than 20 years of expertise
Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has appointed Jenan Al Askari as Vice President Corporate Communications, strengthening its leadership team as it accelerates its strategic transformation. This latest move follows the appointment of former airBaltic chief executive Martin Gauss as Gulf Air CEO, with a mandate to drive the next phase of the carrier’s evolution.
With more than two decades of experience in corporate communications, strategic positioning and executive advisory support, Al Askari brings extensive expertise in “strategic and executive communications” to her new role.
She will oversee the airline’s corporate communications functions, including internal and external communications, media relations, executive communications and stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment with Gulf Air’s long-term business priorities
Prior to joining Gulf Air, Al Askari held senior leadership positions at Bapco Energies Group, where she led strategic communication initiatives supporting major transformation programmes and stakeholder engagement efforts. Before that, she spent 18 years at Bahrain Petroleum Company, where she shaped communications strategy and led the employee engagement team.

Commenting on the appointment, Martin Gauss, CEO of Gulf Air, said the move underscores the airline’s commitment to “clear, consistent and impactful" engagement. “Effective communication is critical to delivering our strategy and strengthening trust with our stakeholders,” he added.
Gulf Air is building on this momentum with new destinations and expanded operations. In 2026, the carrier is adding two new summer routes and has entered the North American market with its first transatlantic service to New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport, which commenced on 1 October 2025.
Looking ahead, the airline plans to transfer its long-haul operations, including the New York route, to Bahrain International Airport’s new Terminal One by June 2026 to enhance passenger flow and premium services. Gulf Air is currently transitioning to an A320neo and 787-based airline, with a firm order for 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and options for three additional aircraft.
