Expanding network lifts Bahrain carrier towards 600,000 travellers
Bahrain’s national airline, Gulf Air, reported a sharp rise in passenger traffic in October 2025, handling 598,363 passengers across its international network, marking an 18% year-on-year increase.
Operating more than 4,500 flights during the month, the airline also achieved an improved load factor of 85%, up from 75% in October 2024, reflecting strong demand across key markets.
The performance follows the continued expansion of Gulf Air’s network, including its entry into the North American market with the launch of its first transatlantic service to New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport on 1 October 2025. The route operates three times weekly with a capacity of 282 passengers per flight.
Commenting on the results, Martin Gauss, Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer, said: “These results reflect the continued confidence in our network and the steady progress of our operational strategy.
“As we move forward, our focus remains on delivering a reliable, consistent experience for our customers across all touchpoints.”

The airline’s growth aligns with Bahrain’s broader tourism ambitions. The kingdom aims to attract 14.1 million visitors by 2026, according to Mabrian (a travel analytics platform), supported by ongoing investments in aviation and hospitality infrastructure.
At the 2025 Dubai Airshow, Gulf Air advanced its fleet modernisation strategy with new orders for Boeing 787 Dreamliners, aimed at boosting efficiency and environmental performance. The carrier also earned a Five Star Major Airline plaque from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) for 2026, recognising Gulf Air’s quality of service, as rated by certified passenger feedback.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s hospitality pipeline continues to expand with new developments including the Hilton Bahrain City Centre Hotel & Residences, opened in November 2025, and the Waldorf Astoria Bahrain Bay, set to launch in 2028.
