Nizar Weshah promoted to Area Vice President as group aims to triple its portfolio in the kingdom
Hyatt has appointed Nizar Weshah as Area Vice President of Saudi Arabia, bolstering its regional leadership as the company pursues plans to triple its hotel portfolio in the kingdom by 2030.
Based in Al Khobar, Weshah will be responsible for overseeing Hyatt’s operations and development strategy across Saudi Arabia.
He will continue to serve as General Manager of Grand Hyatt Al Khobar Hotel and Residences, where he has led one of the group’s flagship properties in the region for the last six years.
A Jordanian national, Weshah brings more than 26 years of international hospitality experience, including 17 years with Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
First joining Hyatt in 1999 as Outlet Manager at the Grand Hyatt Amman in Jordan, Weshah has held senior management positions in Jordan, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Oman and Saudi Arabia, and is recognised for building operational performance and supporting workforce development.
In Al Khobar, he played a key role in establishing Grand Hyatt as a leading destination for both corporate and leisure guests.
Prior to Hyatt, he worked in a number of properties in Jordan with Trust House Forte and Sheraton.
Speaking about his expanded responsibilities, Weshah said: “Saudi Arabia is undergoing a remarkable transformation in the hospitality sector, and I look forward to supporting Hyatt’s contribution to this journey in line with the ambitions of Vision 2030.”

Hyatt operates several properties in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar, with more hotels set to open in the coming years. Briana Swift was recently named Regional Vice President of Development for Saudi Arabia, overseeing Hyatt’s expansion and working with local partners on projects such as Hyatt Place AlUla, Grand Hyatt The Red Sea, and Miraval The Red Sea.
Over the past decade, Hyatt has tripled its Middle East portfolio, including the recent launch of the Andaz brand in Doha. Looking ahead, the group aims to triple its number of hotel rooms in Saudi Arabia by 2030 and plans to open three new properties by 2026: Hyatt Place AlUla, Grand Hyatt The Red Sea, and Miraval The Red Sea.
Hyatt’s pipeline also features a new development in Magna, part of the Neom project.
