Loyalty programme members can now use points for both hotel stays and flights
Marriott Bonvoy and Ethiopian Airlines have launched a new partnership allowing travellers to earn and redeem loyalty points across both groups’ reward programmes, starting from 24 March 2026.
Members of Marriott Bonvoy and ShebaMiles, Ethiopian Airlines’ loyalty scheme, can now exchange points and miles between the two platforms.
Marriott Bonvoy points can be converted to ShebaMiles at a 3:1 ratio, with members receiving 5,000 bonus miles for every 60,000 points transferred, while ShebaMiles can be exchanged for Marriott Bonvoy points at a 2:1 ratio.
Guests staying at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties can also choose whether to earn Marriott points or ShebaMiles for their stay. Travellers must be enrolled in both programmes to access the benefits.

The partnership links Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands across 10,000 destinations worldwide with Ethiopian Airlines’ network of more than 145 destinations, including 60 cities in Africa and major global hubs, among them Mumbai, London, Paris and Washington DC. As a member of Star Alliance, the carrier also offers access to flight redemptions and cabin upgrades across the alliance’s 25 partner airlines.
With nearly 260 million members, Marriott Bonvoy remains the world’s leading hotel loyalty programme, and extending its reach through airline partnerships has been part of its winning strategy. To date, the programme has collaborated with 35 international carriers, including Emirates Skywards, Etihad Guest and Saudia Alfursan.
