Inaugural event to celebrate the world’s most exceptional properties
The Michelin Guide will unveil its first-ever worldwide Michelin Key Selection for hotels, recognising the most outstanding properties around the globe.
The selection will be announced at an awards ceremony in October 2025, held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, with more than 300 international hoteliers expected to attend.
The introduction of the Michelin Key system offers an opportunity for exceptional hotels across the GCC, from Dubai to Doha, to gain international recognition and arrives as the Michelin Guide for food prepares for its debut in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the region’s growing prominence in both hospitality and gastronomy.
The Michelin Guide has built an independent global hotel selection featuring more than 7,000 properties across 125-plus countries, and the new system will extend Michelin’s approach to ranking restaurants with Stars to accommodation, introducing a key system for hotels that go beyond amenities and star ratings.
The Michelin Key extends to three distinctions – One Key, Two Key, Three Key – with hotels that earn Keys independently assessed by Michelin’s inspectors using five criteria.

One Key is awarded for a hotel with its own “character and personality with service that goes the extra mile, while Two Keys is for a property that is “truly unique and exceptional” with charm, personality and a real sense of the location.
Three Keys denotes a hotel that is among the world’s “most remarkable and extraordinary”, combining the ultimate in comfort, service, style and elegance.
As well as delivering the distinctions, the Guide will offer for the first time integrated booking services, making it easier for travellers to discover and reserve the world’s finest hotels.
What’s more, the Guide will introduce four brand-new Special Awards, spotlighting excellence in areas beyond classic hospitality categories, from architecture to wellness, with a winner for each category revealed during the Paris ceremony.
MIchelin has opened nominations for these four awards, with five nominees per category set to be revealed from August 2025 onwards:
The unveiling of the 2025 Michelin Keys selection in October will also take place digitally across The Michelin Guide social media and editorial platforms.
