Qatar Airways increases US flight roster

The airline now services more US destinations than it did before the pandemic

Next week, Qatar Airways will resume flights to Atlanta, the last US route to return to the carrier’s network following suspensions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Doha-Atlanta service will operate four times weekly from 1 June and the airline will also increase frequencies to several US cities over the coming weeks, operating a total of 85 weekly flights to the country.

Commenting on the news Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker, said: “Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Qatar Airways has remained committed to its passengers and trade partners in the United States, maintaining continuous services while rebuilding its US network and launching two new destinations – San Francisco and Seattle.

“We have also strengthened our presence in the US through strategic partnerships with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and Jetblue, enabling us to connect to more points in the United States than any other airline, providing US travellers the most convenient way to travel internationally this summer.”

The carrier launched a new route to San Francisco in December 2020, followed by flights to Seattle in January this year. The resumption of flights to Atlanta brings Qatar Airways’ US network to 12 destinations – two more than it was serving before the onset of Covid-19.
