Middle East's Emirates, Etihad and Saudia airlines also in top 20
Qatar Airways has been awarded this year’s ‘Airline of the Year’ by Skytrax, winning for an unprecedented eighth time in the history of the awards, and reclaiming the top spot after coming second in 2023.
Skytrax, the ‘Oscars of the aviation industry', were announced at a gala ceremony on 24 June at London’s Fairmont Windsor Park attended by 325 guests representing airlines globally.
In addition to being named the World’s Best Airline 2024, Qatar Airways scooped the top awards for the 'World’s Best Business Class', the 'World’s Best Business Class Lounge' and 'Best Airline in the Middle East'.
Fellow Middle East airlines also earned places in the top 20, with Emirates ranking at number three, Etihad Airways at 19, and Saudia at 20.

Of Qatar Airways achievements, the airline’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said: “This is a proud Qatar Airways moment and it is my honour to share this award with my hardworking colleagues. This award is testimony to our relentless dedication to providing unparalleled service and innovation. We look forward to more wins in the future.”
The 2023 'Airline of the Year' winner, Singapore Airlines, was ranked second in 2024, with Emirates in third place, ANA All Nippon Airways in fourth, and Cathay Pacific in fifth position, out of more than 350 airlines included in the survey results.

Singapore Airlines also won the award for the 'World’s Best Cabin Staff', 'Best First Class Suites' and best 'World’s Best First Class'. In one of the most competitive global regions for airline service standards, Singapore Airlines also took out the 'Best Airline in Asia' award.
Saudi Arabia's Saudia earned itself the 2024 award of the World’s Most Improved Airline while Emirates won a total of seven titles: 'World's Best Airline Inflight Entertainment', 'Best First Class Airline Comfort Amenities', 'Best First Class Airline in the Middle East', 'Best First Class Onboard Catering in the Middle East', 'Most Family-friendly Airline in the Middle East', 'Best Premium Economy Class Airline in the Middle East' and 'Best Premium Economy Class Onboard Catering in the Middle East'.
The World Airline Awards began in 1999, and remain independent and impartial with all of the customer survey costs and awards event paid by the organisers, Skytrax.
