Spain’s Catalan capital to host prestigious travel trade event until 2028

Connections Luxury, the international community for luxury travel decision-makers, has signed a three-year partnership with Barcelona Turisme to secure the Catalan capital as host destination for the Connections Luxury Europe event until 2028.

The event, which brings together top European luxury travel agencies and leading high-end travel suppliers from around the world, has grown by more than 60% since 2022, reflecting demand for meaningful engagement and curated experiences in the sector.

The Connections Luxury community represents a combined annual buying power of US$7.8 billion.

The announcement was made as the 2025 edition (pictured), also held in Barcelona in Spain, came to a close, having welcomed more than 250 participants from 50 countries for more than 2,000 one-to-one meetings and 14 immersive cultural experiences.

These included VR racing with Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and colour matching with El Corte Inglés to guided olive oil and wine tastings, concluding with a Masquerade Ball at El Palace Barcelona.

“Connections Luxury Europe has grown significantly year on year – in scale, calibre and impact – and Barcelona has played a huge role in that success,” said Greg Reeves, Managing Director of Connections Luxury.

“Securing a three-year partnership with Barcelona Turisme allows us to build on that momentum and think even bigger. Together, we’re shaping an event that not only brings together the most influential names in luxury travel, but also continues to raise the bar on what meaningful networking really looks like. There’s a lot to look forward to.”

Anna Marquès, Strategic Projects Director at Barcelona Turisme, said after three years of partnership with Catalan Tourism, the time was right for Barcelona Turisme to take over and reinforce the city’s position as a leader in high-end, tailor-made travel.

Connections Luxury Europe will return to Barcelona from 12-15 April 2026.

Connections Luxury’s flagship Middle East event was held in Doha, Qatar in March 2025, with more than 300 trade professionals attending. The event is set to return to Qatar from 29 March to 1 April 2026.

Also launched in March 2025, Connections Luxury Americas in NYC brought 160 senior industry professionals together from 33 countries.

Since its inception in 2014, Connections Luxury has hosted over 65 global events.
