The route has launched under agreement with Saudi’s Air Connectivity Programme
Saudi Arabia’s National carrier Saudia has announced the launch of direct flights connecting Jeddah with Barcelona, Spain’s second largest city.
In recent months, the carrier has launched a series of international travel routes aimed at supporting the development of the Saudi Tourism Sector, aligning with the Kingdom’s objectives of Vision 2030.

The inaugural flight from Jeddah to Barcelona (pictures) took off on 2 July 2022 at 10:20am, following a celebratory event held at King Abdulaziz International Airport‘s Al Fursan International Lounge.
Initially, the route will operate on a seasonal schedule in line with demand, and then fly twice a week from 30 August 2022 onwards.
Speaking about the new route, Saudia VP of Marketing and Product Management Essam Akhonbay said: “This collaboration benefits Saudia’s strategic objective of bringing the world to Saudi Arabia. The direct scheduled flights to and from Barcelona all year round will increase the tourism and business traffic between the two destinations.
